Priming a coil means saturating the cotton before you fire it. Skip this step and you'll burn the cotton on the first hit. That burnt taste is permanent. You can't fix it. You have to replace the coil.

Step 1: Before installing the coil, drip 3-4 drops of e-liquid directly onto the exposed cotton wicking ports. You'll see the cotton absorb it instantly.

Step 2: Install the coil, fill the tank, and close it. Do not fire it yet.

Step 3: Wait 10 minutes. Not 5. Not "until I get impatient." Ten minutes. The cotton inside a coil is packed denser than you think, and it takes that long for the inner layers to fully saturate.

Step 4: Start at half the recommended wattage. Take 3-4 short puffs. Increase by 5W, take a few more puffs. Repeat until you reach your target wattage. This "break-in" process conditions the cotton and extends coil life by 2-3 days.

For pod systems: fill the pod, let it sit for 10 minutes, then take 5-6 dry pulls (no power, just sucking air through the mouthpiece) before you fire it. This pulls juice into the cotton.
