Smoking a pack a day costs about $2,200-3,600 per year, depending on where you live. Vaping on a refillable pod system costs $300-500 per year. That's an 80-85% savings. Here's the breakdown.

Smoking (pack-a-day): $6-10 per pack × 365 days = $2,190-3,650/year. Plus lighters, plus the dry cleaning bill for clothes that smell like smoke, plus higher health insurance premiums.

Vaping (pod system): $25-35 for the device (one-time). $5 per pod × 2 pods per month = $10/month. $15 per 30ml bottle of nic salt × 2 bottles per month = $30/month. Total: $40/month or $480/year after the initial purchase.

Vaping (sub-ohm tank): $50-80 for the mod and tank (one-time). $15 per coil × 2 coils per month = $30/month. $20 per 60ml shortfill × 4 bottles per month = $80/month. Total: $110/month or $1,320/year. Still cheaper than smoking, but not by as much.

The cheapest way to vape: a refillable pod system with longfill e-liquids. $25 for the device. $5/month for pods. $5/month for longfill juice. Total: $10/month or $120/year. That's 95% less than smoking.
