Audit what you have

Summer is a good time to look at what's sitting in your drawer. Not to judge, just to see. If you're anything like me, you've got a mix of devices: some you use daily, some you forgot existed.

Start by laying everything out. Yes, all of it. That old device you keep 'just in case', the one you bought on a whim, the one you actually reach for. Sort them into three piles: daily drivers, occasional, and the 'why do I still have this' pile.

Be honest. A device that's been sitting untouched for months isn't earning its space. Neither is one that leaks, or that you never liked the flavor of. The goal here is to see what you're actually working with.

What still earns its place

Your daily driver is the obvious keeper. It's the one that fits your routine, that you trust to work when you need it. For me, that's something with a consistent draw and a flavor I don't get tired of.

Occasional devices can stay too, but question them. Do you actually use them when the mood strikes, or do they just sit there? If you only use a device once a month, it might not be worth keeping.

A quick way to tell: think about your last week. Which devices did you pick up? Those are your keepers. Everything else is just taking up space.

What to retire

Now the hard part. Retire anything that doesn't serve you. That means:

• Devices with weak battery life that die mid-session
• Leakers or ones that gurgle constantly
• Flavors you bought but never liked
• Anything that's just 'okay' but not great

Retiring doesn't mean throwing away in the trash. Check if your area has e-waste recycling for vapes, or look for take-back programs. Some brands offer recycling, so it's worth a quick search.

And don't feel guilty about it. Holding onto a device out of obligation is clutter, not pragmatism.

Gap list only

After the audit, make a list of what's actually missing. Not what's new or shiny—what you need.

Maybe your daily driver is almost empty and you need a replacement. Maybe you want a smaller option for outdoor summer activities. Maybe you're curious about a different flavor profile.

Write it down. Then, before you buy, ask: does this fill a real gap? If it's just 'nice to have', skip it. Minimalism isn't about having less for the sake of it; it's about having what you actually use.

Buy only for gaps

When you do buy, choose wisely. Look for a device that matches your needs—durable for summer travel, a battery that lasts, a flavor you know you'll enjoy.

If you're in the market, consider something like the LINQ-SLIM for a slim, pocket-friendly option, or the VERTEX-VISTA if you want a bit more capacity. But only if it fits your gap list.

Remember: summer is about simplicity. Don't overthink it. Buy for the gaps you identified, and skip the rest.

A note on safety

Always keep nicotine products away from children and pets. Store them in a cool, dry place—summer heat can affect battery life and flavor. And if you're new to vaping, start with a lower nicotine strength if that's a concern.

That's it. Audit, keep, retire, and fill gaps. Your stash will be lighter, and your setup will feel intentional. Happy summer.
