Vaping has its own language. Here's every term you'll encounter, defined in plain English.

510: The universal threaded connection between tank and mod. Airflow: The holes that let air into the tank. More airflow = cooler, looser draw. Auto-draw: The device fires when you inhale. No button needed. Box mod: A box-shaped device with a screen and adjustable wattage. Coil: The heating element that vaporizes the juice. DTL (Direct-to-Lung): Inhaling vapor directly into the lungs. Dry hit: A puff with no juice on the coil. Tastes burnt.

E-liquid / E-juice: The liquid you vape. Freebase nicotine: Pure nicotine. Harsh at high strengths. mAh: Battery capacity. More mAh = longer battery life. Mesh coil: A coil made from a mesh strip. Better flavor and longer life than round wire. Mod: The device that powers the tank. MTL (Mouth-to-Lung): Pulling vapor into the mouth, then inhaling. Like a cigarette.

Nic salt: Nicotine bonded with benzoic acid. Smooth at high strengths. Ohm: The unit of electrical resistance. Lower ohms = more power. PG (Propylene Glycol): Thin, flavor-carrying base liquid. Pod: The replaceable cartridge that holds the coil and juice. Priming: Saturating a new coil before use. RDA (Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer): A deck where you build your own coil and drip juice directly onto it.

RTA (Rebuildable Tank Atomizer): An RDA with a tank. Shortfill: A large bottle of zero-nicotine juice with space for a nic shot. Sub-ohm: Coils below 1.0 ohm. High wattage, big clouds. TC (Temperature Control): A mode that limits coil temperature. VG (Vegetable Glycerin): Thick, cloud-producing base liquid. Wattage: The power delivered to the coil. Higher wattage = more vapor and flavor.
