You know that disposable vape you have been nursing for the past week? The one that tastes faintly of burnt sugar and gives you half the vapor it used to? It is done. You are just not admitting it.

Disposable vapes do not have a puff counter that tells you when to stop. They do not have a screen that flashes "replace me." They just degrade. Gradually. Quietly. And most people keep puffing long past the point where the experience is actually worth having. Here is how to know when to let go.

The flavor drop-off is the first and most reliable signal. A fresh disposable produces clean, distinct flavor notes. After about 70 to 80 percent of its rated puff count, those notes start to blur. Fruit flavors become vaguely sweet. Menthol loses its edge. Dessert profiles go flat. This is not your palate fatiguing. This is the coil degrading. The cotton is gunked with residue from hundreds of puffs. The heating element is losing efficiency. The liquid that remains is the dregs at the bottom of the tank -- the stuff that has been sitting against the coil the longest. It is stale. You can taste it. You are just choosing to ignore it.

Vapor production is the second indicator. Hold the device at arm's length and take a normal puff. Does the cloud look like it did on day one? If it is visibly thinner, the coil is not vaporizing liquid efficiently anymore. The battery might also be contributing. Disposable batteries lose output voltage as they approach the end of their cycle. A device that started at 3.7 volts might be putting out 3.2 volts by the end. Less voltage means less heat. Less heat means less vapor. The numbers do not lie.

The burnt taste is the final warning. A single hint of burnt flavor means the cotton is charred. There is no fixing it. There is no "one more puff to see if it goes away." Once the cotton burns, every subsequent puff pulls that burnt taste through the coil. It does not get better. It gets worse. The device is done.

Here is the rule of thumb: if the flavor is noticeably worse than day one, if the vapor is visibly thinner, or if you taste even a hint of burnt cotton, retire the device. It had a good run. Let it go. The next one will taste better anyway. This content is intended for adults 21 years of age or older. Nicotine is an addictive chemical.
