Your vape is leaking. You have wiped it down six times today. You are convinced the device is defective. Before you throw it in the trash and buy a new one, let me tell you something: most leaks are user error dressed up as product failure.

There are exactly three things that cause 90 percent of vape leaks. Fix these, and you fix the leak.

First: you are pulling too hard. This is the number one cause of pod system leaks, and almost nobody talks about it. When you draw aggressively on a vape, you create negative pressure inside the pod that pulls more liquid into the coil than the coil can vaporize. The excess liquid floods the coil, saturates the cotton, and eventually drips out through the airflow holes. The fix is counter-intuitive: draw slower and softer. A gentle, steady pull -- about the same force as sipping through a straw, not a milkshake. Your draw should last 2 to 3 seconds. If you are pulling hard enough to hear a gurgling sound, you are pulling too hard. The gurgle is the sound of a flooded coil. Back off.

Second: you are storing the device wrong. Vapes are designed to be stored upright. The pod is a gravity-fed system. When you lay the device on its side, liquid pools against the coil ports and the airflow channels. Over time, that liquid seeps through. The fix is simple: keep the device upright whenever possible. If it has to go in a pocket, store it mouthpiece-up. If you leave it on your nightstand overnight, stand it up. If your car has a cupholder, use it. The difference between upright storage and horizontal storage is the difference between a dry pocket and a wet one.

Third: you are confusing condensation with a leak. Condensation is normal. A tiny ring of moisture around the mouthpiece or a slight dampness on the contacts after a day of use is not a leak. It is condensation from vapor cooling as it travels through the airflow path. Clean it with a tissue. Move on. A leak is different. A leak is a puddle. A leak is liquid visibly running down the side of the device. A leak is a wet spot on your desk after the device has been sitting still. If you are wiping a tiny bit of moisture and calling it a leak, you are chasing a problem that does not exist.

Draw softer. Store upright. Learn the difference between condensation and a leak. That is it. That is the list. Start there before you blame the device.
