First, Know What You're Dealing With

Windbar's boxy streetwear tees aren't your average t-shirt. They're cut with a wider chest, dropped shoulders, and a shorter length—that's the whole point. The silhouette is supposed to look relaxed and a little oversized, like you grabbed it from a skate brand's rack. But that also means your usual size might not translate the way you expect.

If you're a medium in a regular tee, a medium in a boxy cut will feel roomier in the body but maybe shorter in the hem. That's not a mistake. It's the style. So before you click 'add to cart,' take a minute to think about how you want it to look on you.

Measure Yourself, Not Your Old Tees

The easiest way to nail your size is to measure your chest. Grab a soft tape measure, wrap it around the fullest part of your chest, and keep it level under your arms. Don't suck in, don't puff out—just stand naturally. Write that number down.

Then, check Windbar's size chart. It's usually listed on the product page. Match your chest measurement to the closest size. If you're between sizes, go with the larger one if you want a true boxy fit, or the smaller one if you want it to sit a bit closer to the body.

Don't rely on your old tees' size labels. Brands cut differently, and even within the same brand, a boxy tee will fit differently than a slim one. Trust the numbers.

Layering? Think About the Room

If you're buying a Windbar tee for layering—say, over a hoodie or a long-sleeve—you'll want to size up. A boxy fit gives you some extra room, but not always enough for a thick layer underneath. Going one size up ensures the tee doesn't pull across the shoulders or feel tight in the chest.

On the flip side, if you're wearing it solo, your usual size is probably fine. The boxy cut already gives you that relaxed look without needing to size up.

Fabric and Shrinkage: The Hidden Factor

Cotton tees shrink. It's just a fact. A 100% cotton tee can lose up to 5% of its size in the first wash, especially if you use hot water or toss it in the dryer. That can turn a perfect fit into something snug in the wrong places.

To keep shrinkage in check, wash your Windbar tee in cold water and hang it dry. If you're between sizes, keep shrinkage in mind—maybe size up to account for it. And if you're really unsure, order two sizes and return the one that doesn't work. Most online stores, including Windbar, offer free returns, so it's a low-risk way to get the fit right.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

One big mistake is ignoring the length. Boxy tees are shorter by design, so if you're tall, the hem might sit higher than you're used to. Check the length measurement on the size chart and compare it to a tee you already own that fits well.

Another mistake is assuming your usual size is the same across all styles. It's not. A boxy cut is fundamentally different from a regular or slim fit. Always measure and check the chart.

Quick Recap Checklist

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do Windbar boxy tees fit compared to regular tees?

Windbar boxy tees are cut with a wider chest and shorter length than a standard tee, giving that streetwear silhouette. They're meant to fit loose, so if you're between sizes, you might want to size down for a cleaner look or stick with your usual size for the intended boxy vibe.

Q: What measurements should I take to find my size?

The most important measurement is your chest—wrap a tape measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping it level under your arms. Compare that number to the size chart on the product page. Also check the length and shoulder width if you're particular about how it drapes.

Q: Should I size up for layering?

If you plan to wear your Windbar tee over a hoodie or long-sleeve, yes—size up one size from your usual fit. That extra room prevents the tee from feeling tight across the shoulders and chest. For just a tee over bare skin, your regular size should work fine.

Q: Will the tee shrink after washing?

It depends on the fabric. Cotton tees can shrink up to 5% in the first wash, especially if you use hot water or a dryer. To minimize shrinkage, wash in cold water and hang dry. If you're between sizes, consider that shrinkage might pull the fit in.

Q: What's the best way to avoid return hassles?

Measure yourself first, read the size chart, and read reviews from other buyers about fit. If you're still unsure, order two sizes and return the one that doesn't work—many brands offer free returns, so it's a low-risk way to get the right fit.
