For the last decade, buying a cooled liquid was a binary choice. You got the ice or you did not. If the manufacturer dosed it at 1.5% and you wanted 3%, too bad. If they dosed it at 3% and you wanted a whisper of cold, you were out of luck. That era just ended.

Adjustable ice is the biggest e-liquid innovation since nicotine salts. Here is how it actually works.

The bottle comes with two components: a base flavor liquid and a separate cooling shot. The base is the full flavor profile with zero cooling. The cooling shot is a concentrated WS-23 or menthol blend, usually in a 10ml dropper. You add as much or as little as you want. One drop gives you a hint. Two drops gives you presence. The full shot gives you maximum freeze.

The math is simple. A typical 50ml shortfill with an adjustable ice shot holds 60ml total after adding the cooling. If you add the whole shot, you are at roughly 2% cooling concentration. Half the shot? About 1%. Quarter? You get the idea.

The brands driving this trend — including Elfliq, Bar Juice, and IVG — are not doing it for charity. They are doing it because the data is undeniable. Adjustable ice liquids outsell fixed-ice versions by roughly 40% on the shelves where both are offered. Customers want control. They want to dial it in.

The only catch: once you add the cooling shot, you cannot take it out. Start low. Test. Add more. Treat it like seasoning, not a recipe.

Adjustable ice is not a gimmick. It is the obvious endpoint of a market that finally realized one size fits nobody. This content is intended for adults 21 years of age or older.
