You can spend 20 quid on premium liquid, pair it with a fresh mesh coil, and dial in the perfect wattage. Then you stick a narrow drip tip on the tank and wonder why the flavor is muted. This is not coil failure. It is geometry.

Mouthpiece shape is the most overlooked variable in flavor delivery. And the physics is not complicated.

A wide-bore drip tip — 8mm or wider — increases airflow. More air means more vapor volume, which means more cloud. But it also means the vapor spends less time in contact with your taste buds before it hits your lungs. Big clouds, diluted flavor. Fine for cloud competitions. Terrible for tasting notes.

A narrow-bore drip tip — 4-5mm — restricts airflow. The vapor stream concentrates, hits a smaller area of your tongue, and delivers more flavor molecules per square millimeter. The trade-off is a warmer vape and less cloud production. For flavor chasing, this is the move.

Material matters too. Delrin and POM plastic tips stay cool. Metal tips heat up fast and can add a metallic note to the vapor — especially at wattages above 40W. Glass tips are neutral but fragile. The material you choose is part of the flavor equation whether you acknowledge it or not.

Length changes the experience as well. A short tip (under 10mm) puts the vapor closer to your mouth, making it hotter and more intense. A long tip (15mm+) cools the vapor by 5-10 degrees before it reaches you. Same liquid, same coil, different temperature, different taste.

Here is the test: switch your drip tip to a narrow Delrin tip for one tank. Then go back to the stock wide-bore. The difference will be obvious within three puffs.
