The puff count is the headline, but the fine print tells the real story. Flip the box over and look for three things:
- E-liquid volume (mL): This is how much juice is actually inside. A typical disposable might have 8–15 mL. More liquid generally means more puffs, but it's not the only factor.
- Battery capacity (mAh): The battery has to power the coil. If the battery is small, it will die before the liquid runs out, cutting your puff count short.
- Nicotine strength (mg/mL): Useful for knowing your dose, but also a clue. Higher nicotine often means shorter puffs, which could stretch the count.
Look for the manufacturer's name and contact info too. A reputable brand will want you to be able to find them. If the label is vague or only lists a website, treat that as a yellow flag.
In Illinois, there's no specific law that requires puff count labeling, so you're relying on the brand's integrity. The FDA does oversee vape labeling, but they don't pre-approve every claim. That means the responsibility is on you to read carefully.
