Absolutely — and many vapers do. The most common path is MTL → RDL → DTL as you gain experience, but there's no rule that says you have to progress. Some people stay MTL forever and love it. Others go straight to DTL and never look back.
There are also plenty of vapers who use multiple styles depending on the situation — MTL at work for discretion, RDL at home for flavor, DTL on weekends for cloud tricks. The good news is that you don't necessarily need multiple devices to try different styles.
Devices That Support Multiple Styles
Many modern pod systems and AIO (All-In-One) devices let you switch between MTL and RDL with:
- Adjustable airflow — a dial or switch that opens/closes the air slots
- Interchangeable coils — swap between higher-ohm MTL coils and lower-ohm RDL coils
- Different pod cartridges — some brands sell MTL pods and RDL pods for the same battery
This makes it easy to experiment without buying a whole new setup. If you're not sure which style you prefer, start with a device that supports both MTL and RDL — you can figure out what you like and upgrade later if needed.
