Here is the fastest way to lose a wholesale buyer: put a "Buy Now" button on your B2B website.
Wholesale buyers are not impulse shoppers. They are professional purchasers. They have budgets, approval processes, and vendor onboarding requirements. They are not clicking "Add to Cart" on a $50,000 order. They are sending an email, requesting a quote, or picking up the phone. And if your CTA language does not reflect that reality, you are invisible to them.
The difference between B2C and B2B CTA language is the difference between "Buy Now" and "Request Wholesale Pricing." One is transactional. The other is relational. In B2B vape, the relationship is the transaction.
Let me break down what works and what does not.
"Buy Now" is for B2C. It signals a self-service checkout experience. It implies the price on the page is the final price. It suggests the order size is standard. None of that is true for wholesale. A wholesale buyer needs to know the MOQ, the tiered pricing, the lead time, the shipping terms, and the payment terms. None of that fits in a shopping cart. The CTA should not pretend it does.
"Request Wholesale Pricing" is better. It signals that pricing is customized. It implies a conversation. It sets the expectation that the buyer will be contacted by a real person. That is what wholesale buyers want. They are not looking for a self-service experience. They are looking for a partner.
"Apply for a Trade Account" is the strongest option. It signals exclusivity. It implies a vetting process. It positions your brand as a partner, not a vendor. The buyer is applying to work with you, not just buying from you. That subtle shift in framing changes the power dynamic in your favor.
"Contact Sales" is fine. It is neutral. It is clear. But it lacks the relationship framing of "Apply for a Trade Account." Use it if your process is lightweight. If you are vetting buyers, use the stronger language.
Here is what the CTA needs to communicate in four words or less: what happens next. "Request Wholesale Pricing" says the next step is a quote. "Apply for a Trade Account" says the next step is an application. "Contact Sales" says the next step is a conversation. "Buy Now" says the next step is a credit card form. Know which one applies to your business.
The CTA placement matters too. It should appear above the fold on the homepage. It should appear in the navigation. It should appear on every product page. It should appear in the footer. A wholesale buyer who has to search for how to buy from you is a wholesale buyer who goes to your competitor. The path to purchase should be the easiest thing on the site.
One more thing: the CTA should lead to a form, not a phone number. Wholesale buyers research at 10 p.m. They do not want to call. They want to fill out a form and get a response in the morning. The form should ask for company name, website, order volume, and target market. Not 20 fields. Four. Make it easy to convert.
Here is the test: go to your website right now. Look at the first button you see. Does it say "Buy Now"? If it does, and you sell wholesale, you are losing buyers. Change it to "Request Wholesale Pricing" or "Apply for a Trade Account." That is a 30-second fix that could change your entire inbound pipeline.
The words on the button are not decoration. They are the single most important conversion decision you make on the entire site. Get them right.
